. “Listen to the end. Listen to the unhealed parts of their stories. Listen without making it about you.” -Sonali Fiske .
From the perspective of #privilege this deep listening is one dimension of unclenching. .

Kriya yoga = tapas, svadhyaya, Isvara pranidhana ♥️ We worked with sutra 2.1 in class today, I love chanting with my students!
When the kleshas rise up, come back to these three: the intense burning shining purifying self discipline of #tapas, inner observation + self study, #svadhyaya and practice as an offering, a devotion to the Divine #ishvarapranidhana - Sadhana as a #loveletter to #purusa 💕 .
Offering our efforts, our practice to the Divine, in acknowledgement that all comes from that Source, so we can let go of grasping the fruits of our actions, and rather be with the work, the practice. .
.
These 3 elements of #kriyayoga are the perfect start for beginners on the path, as well as the way to reset for practitioners who reach a plateau. 🏜
(Guruji describes this eloquently in #lightontheyogasutrasofpatanjali; Geetaji’s focus on kriya yoga in her Centenary teachings refreshed my enthusiasm for working with this dimension.)

Along these lines I’ve been working towards befriending drop backs. 20 years ago in my New Zealand #ashtanga class I’d plop back without much thought. In 2003 I let go of fancy stuff in other to understand deep, basic alignment but after a decade or so of that coming back to drop backs was painful and scary! So it’s been a process of learning stability from the ground up. I like building the neuro pathways and finding the work with the ropes, (although I could use a slightly longer rope, can you see where it limits my organization?) .
